Temple Of Blood Interview
1.Could you give me history of your band, please?

Sure, the drummer (Lance Wright), bassist (Garth Lovvorn) and I got together in late 2001 and started learning a lot of cover songs from classic thrash and heavy metal bands like Metallica, Annihilator, Overkill, Iron Maiden, and many more. I was writing songs at the time, but we mainly played cover songs. In 2004, my friend from college (Matt Barnes) moved here to become the 2nd guitarist for us and we started concentrating more on original songs. In January of 2006 our debut album was released, titled "Prepare for the Judgement of Mankind", We have just recently gotten a new bass player named Jim Lewis who used to play with one my favorite new bands, Antithesis.

2.What’s the meaning behind your name?

The name "Temple of Blood" symbolizes ourselves, our human bodies of flesh and blood, which are created to be temples that honor the Lord.

3.How would you chracterize your sound and which are your influences?

I would say that we are a Christian Thrash/Heavy metal band. I think our sound is influenced by bands like Megadeth, Annihilator, Judas Priest, Death, Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate, Fates Warning, Dark Angel and many, many more classic thrash and heavy metal bands of the past.

I want to tell you a few things about your last album.

4.Who is the writer of the lyrics?

I wrote 5 of the songs on our album, the other guitarist wrote 3, and the bass player wrote 1.

5. Do you write the music first or the lyrics?

Music always comes first, but sometimes the music is inspired by the topic I know I want to sing about. The music should sound great by itself as an instrumental before singing is even added to it IMHO.
6. What do you think about today’s metal scene?

Well, there are tons and tons of bands out there nowadays so it is tough for anyone to get noticed I think. There are some great bands around nowadays but you have to really look for them because I think most bands today aren't very good songwriters IMHO.

7. Any last words?

No, thanks a lot for the interview! God bless!
